Her voice brought him back to the here and now. Still, he wasn’t completely out of it. He could read between the lines on that one. Why the hell didn’t you see a doctor sooner? He forced his attention back to what she was saying.

“Do you have a high tolerance for pain?”

“Oh, I can tolerate a lot of things, Dr. Delicious, you have no idea.”

He gave her the once over, let his gaze linger on her rosy cheeks. He needed to lighten things up a bit. Make sure Celeste bought their old friends routine. Then her teeth sank into her lower lip. He shifted slightly in his seat. Damn, he hated that paper sheet.

She opened her mouth, closed it with a snap and cleared her throat. “Dace, haven’t I told you a million times not to call me that? I’ll forgive you this once, since we haven’t seen each other in years, but if you do it again, I’ll hurt you in ways only a doctor knows how. Now, behave yourself. I repeat, this injury is serious.”

He gave her what he hoped was a contrite look, but in truth, he wasn’t the least bit sorry. Talking with her took his mind off… Everything. As did the flush in her cheeks, and the sparkle in her eyes. “Yes, Dr. Brady. I’m sorry. I’ll behave.” He winked. “I always follow doctor’s orders.”

A bit about our Focus Author: 

          Robyn Rychards grew up in the granola bowl of the United States, Boulder Colorado, a town filled with fruits, flakes and nuts. She considers herself a Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none and has taught herself to sew, paint, play the piano, garden, cook, the list goes on. But now that her books are published, she’s thrilled to finally be considered a master of one. At least as much as a person can be, for the learning never really stops.

          She feels her active imagination is a blessing and a curse, with the blessing far outweighing the curse since it has led her to fulfil her dream of writing for Harlequin. Robyn started writing stories when she was a teenager because she didn’t have enough books to read. Sometimes she finds it hard to believe that people are willing to pay her to do something she enjoys so much, but mostly she’s happy to have such a wonderful excuse not to cook and clean. And a job that means you can stay in your jammies as long as you want? That’s priceless.

In her words: Right now I’m all about romantic suspense, since my new release is one, but the kind of romance I like to read changes regularly. Viva la variety! I just discovered a new author in this genre because of taking a course about writing suspense, and I highly recommend checking her out. It’s Colleen Thompson and the book I thoroughly enjoyed was The Off Season. Though I don’t recommend reading it on a cold dark night!
